Information we collect
We may collect your contact and account information, age confirmation, photographs, location, identity and dating preferences, values, lifestyle, relationship goals, attachment-style reflection, application answers, friend-reference details, introduction responses, post-date check-ins and safety reports.
Sensitive matchmaking information
Some answers may reveal ethnicity, cultural background, religion, health context, sex life or sexual orientation. You choose what to share. We use this information only for private matchmaking, safety, support and the services you request—not for public advertising profiles.
How we use it
Basics uses information to authenticate you, save your dashboard and application, assess membership, prepare and manage introductions, understand compatibility, provide member support, review safety concerns, improve matching after feedback and operate the service.
Emails from Basics
When you create or use a dating dashboard, Basics may email you about your account, community news and relevant matchmaking opportunities. You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time. We may still send essential security, service or privacy messages needed to operate your account.
Who can see what
Approved Basics staff can see your application, uploaded photographs, account email, nickname, application status and the names saved on your dating dashboard. Staff cannot see dashboard scores, journey entries, reflections or private dating notes. A proposed match sees only the limited introduction profile prepared for them. Contact details are revealed only after both people express interest.
Post-date feedback and AI
Your original written post-date reflection is not shown to the other member or loaded into the staff portal. Basics creates a neutral summary from ratings and, when configured, may use an AI service to help soften that summary. A human matchmaker decides whether anything is suitable to share.
Service providers and international processing
We use trusted providers for hosting, database storage, photographs, authentication, email delivery and optional AI processing. Information may be processed in another country. We require providers to handle it only for the service they supply and apply appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep information
We keep active account information while you use Basics and for as long as reasonably needed for matchmaking, support, safety, legal and fraud-prevention purposes. We aim to remove information that is no longer needed. Some limited records may be retained where law, safety or dispute handling requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can update your application, correct inaccurate information, pause participation, ask what information Basics holds, object to certain processing, request a copy or delete your account. The Account page deletes your application, dashboard, photographs, matches and associated content, subject to any limited lawful safety or legal retention.
Security and age requirement
Basics uses access controls and private staff permissions designed to protect member information. No online system is perfectly risk-free. The service is strictly for people aged 22 or older.
Changes
If this notice changes materially, Basics will update the effective date and communicate important changes where reasonably possible. Continuing to use the service after a change does not replace consent where fresh consent is legally required.
