1. Ages 22 and over only
You must be at least 22 years old to create an account, use the dating dashboard, apply for matchmaking, vouch for someone or participate in an introduction.
2. Be the person you said you were
Use truthful information, current photographs and your real relationship status. Do not impersonate another person, hide an existing partner or misrepresent anything that could affect another member’s informed choice.
3. Consent is the whole plot
An introduction is an invitation, never an obligation. Respect a “no”, a pause and a changed mind. Do not pressure anyone for contact details, intimacy, money, photographs, explanations or another date.
4. Keep private things private
Do not screenshot, publish, forward or gossip about another member’s profile, application, introduction or private communication. Contact information is shared only after the relevant people opt in.
5. No cruelty dressed as preference
Preferences may be expressed honestly. Harassment, humiliation, hate, discriminatory abuse, threats, stalking and demeaning comments are not welcome here.
6. No scams, selling or romantic admin fraud
Do not ask members for money, investments, business opportunities, passwords or financial information. Basics is for genuine dating—not recruitment, promotion or manipulation.
7. Tell us when something feels unsafe
Use the confidential safety report when conduct may put someone at risk. Report what you know rather than speculation. An urgent situation belongs with local emergency services first; Basics is not an emergency service.
8. Curated means considered—not guaranteed
Not every application is accepted, not every accepted member receives an immediate introduction and no introduction is a promise of chemistry or a relationship. Members may pass without punishment.
9. What happens when a rule is broken
Basics may review, pause, restrict or remove an account; stop an introduction; preserve information needed for a safety review; or contact appropriate services where required. Context matters, and members may ask Basics to reconsider a decision.
